Top Down or Third Person Camera?

In God s’ Margarita you can have both Top Down or Third Person Camera! This decision is made because of the game experience. The Top Down camera gives a better understanding towards the size of the character in comparison to the vast environments he finds himself in. It also provides a more storytelling point of view to the game as the viewer takes the position of an observer. On the other hand, the Third Person Camera view provides the game with a more action based feeling and it lets the player have a better understanding of his-her location in the environment. The player is also able to get closer to the character thus getting more connected to Reniat Noc’s position, experiencing the game from the inside.

Here is a demo video to demonstrate the new Camera transportation between the Top Down or Third Person view. In the future, I will also develop an AI for obstacle avoidance so that the camera won’t pass through the environment’s meshes.

During the creation of my game, I spend most of the time constructing the environment in my head while I take notes and draw some sketches to visualize my ideas. For me, this is one of the most important parts of the development as it consists the roots of the game’s final form and experience.

The music of God s’ Margarita

One of the most essential parts of God s’ Margarita creation is the musical pieces that someone can find in the memory scenes and the ending credits. The music I am using is from all around the world and in many different dialects. Most of them were written at least 20 years ago, and now they are the legacy of humanity. This is something that characterizes the story of the game as Reniat Noc finds himself in an environment where culture and arts belong to the past. The subject of those songs is love, war, friendship or human character while their role is to take each scene to a space that no game engine can render.

The song either contains lyrics that I haven’t yet found or the words they use make no actual sense. From fragmented sources on the internet, I know that it is a song written to criticize the Vietnam war.

God s’ Margarita Episode 3 Game Design

Episode 3 of God s’ Margarita is taking place in a … with many …

As you may already know all models are made in Blender and with the final rendering taking place in Unity Engine. All models are low poly colored by only some primary colors to achieve the unique graphics of the game. Here are some screenshots of the process :

After I create some more props for the scenery like stones, wood planks, old boxes, bones, etc.  I start to develop the scene in Unity.  The environment is constructed based on the feelings I want to communicate, while every technical aspect is based on Reniat Noc’s characteristics like scale, speed physics, and animations.

Adding just some random details, it is never enough. In the creation of an environment, everything is about values and story. Every little thing has a meaning and a tale to tell. The metal barrel next to the river, the nets left on the ground, the electric engine inside an undeveloped habitat. The poor materials with which this house it is made. All those are signs of existance and what gives life to God s’ Margarita.

Reniat Noc (The red-suited human from AI Legave) starts a dangerous journey through the vast environments of his homeland to find out who is calling him after hiding in a hole for two years. In the road ahead he is about to find his self into many adventures, challenging situations and the history that formed the scene he leaves in.

On May 29 of 2017 God s’ Margarita BETA got published on Play Store. Feel free to download the BETTA and share your opinion about the game and the gameplay.
